Yachats

So I know that we've been home for a month already, and everyone else has blogged about this, but I couldn't write about it without pictures. Our camera was on the frizz most of the week, so here are some pictures courtesy of my mom.

Dramatis Personae

Eve, the eldest cousin who will be an ancient six years this month

Eleanor, Eve's sister, entranced by the jellyfish

Dylan, the ninja T-rex!

His sister Caitlin, one of the best behaved 18 month olds I've ever met

Elliot, decked out for an adventure

Some of the highlights

Katie and I bonding over a handful of cherrios.

Liam and I enjoying the sunset. It was cold!

"I'm not so sure about those whole sand thing" face

Mmmmm, sand! I was finding sand in Liam's diaper for a week afterwards

We bought this toy as a reward for Liam being good on the trip. He barely let Justin put it together before snatching it out of his hands.

There was a jetted tub in my parent's bathroom at the beach house. We let Liam play in there. He had a grand ole time.

We went to the aquarium in Newport. Among the other sights was a kamikaze harbour seal named "Spot" who would throw himself against the window with gay abandon to try to get to the kids.

So big!

Liam loved the touch pools. He, however, thought petting the rocks was more interesting than the actual creatures.

This is one the funniest things I've ever seen. If you can't read it, it says
"In loving memory Manja Geier nee Moravec died in this place September 13, 1997 surrounded by family and friends at her granddaughter's wedding." How'd you like to be that granddaughter? "Hey remember the time Grandma snuffed it at your wedding?" I think that reaches new lows of wedding guest rudeness.

This is my favourite picture. There was one of those underwater walkways. I don't think that Liam blinked the entire time. Look at Liam's circular mouth in the reflection.

More pictures and snide comments to come.

Congratulations to Gwyn and Jared on the arrival of their little penguin. I can't wait to meet Samuel!

An update to say there is no update

Just writing with news to say there is no news. Liam is still crawling like a maniac, but not walking yet. It's hot, but that's expected. I don't really have any new projects yet. The house is a mess, but then it usually is. I'll post pictures when Justin finally gets them up on the website.

I'm going to hide under a rock now

Is any one else sad that June is over because I sure the heck am not. Unfortunately, July isn't looking any better.

There were some parts of June weren't that bad. The week in Oregon was fun other than backing my brand new car into a planter that was inexplicably in the middle of the parking spots. But this month has been one fun stress fest with trying to get all those bridesmaids dresses done with stupid people not coming for fittings, moving and cleaning, unpacking, and then, oh, some more cleaning. And on top of all this, Liam got a really bad cold and cough to the point that I thought he might have whooping cough (I'm still not sure that he didn't).

Other sucky things about this month are finding the computer dead after coming home from Oregon, trying to get the freezer fixed and finding the cabinet on top of it pulling completely off the wall, trying to catch up on all the finances, and, oh yeah, saying good bye to my parents as they set off for Korea for three years. Sigh.

Maybe things will look better next week. If not, I might be forced to run off to Timbuktu.

For the love of all that's holy...

SHUT UP! Liam has been fussing with only very short interim naps for about 12 hours. As I write this now, I've gotten 2 hours of sleep.

Is this not the creepiest baby toy you've ever seen? It's called the Cirque Du Soleil DooLoo Travel Toy. It looks like a cross of several Miyazaki characters in my opinion, but hey, maybe there some uber-pretentious parents who want their kid playing with this instead of something common like, say, Tickle-Me Elmo.

Liam's check up

We just got back from Liam's nine month check up. He weighs 18 lbs 4 oz, is 27.5" long, and his head is 41.5 cm. That puts him in the 25th percentile for height and weight, and 50th for his head, which the reverse from his previous stats. I thought his noggin looked a little disproportionate. That might be why he's been falling over a lot lately. Liam's also right on track for all his developmental stuff.

Other fun news is that he's cutting another tooth. His upper left incisor is bulging out of the gum line. I with it would just come in and be over and done with. Currently, he's got a fever and is being extra fussy. I hope he shapes up before Friday.

So Sis. Shelly, otherwise known as the pioneer dress lady, yesterday told me that the three skirts I made for her mom don't fit because she gained weight, and that the fabric she bought for two other dresses are now going to be used to make a pageant dress. So she came and got the rest of the fabric for the skirts, and now I'm wondering if I've been fired. She wasn't mean about any of it, and she also didn't say that it was my fault, I'm just feeling a little miffed and unappreciated. Oh well. At least I don't have to make anymore of those %$*&^ dresses.

Wish me luck in getting through this week!
