More Mommy questions

In my last questions, it seems that nursing covers and tomato hats seem like the most popular choices. But I have another to add

Would you like (not necessarily buy) full diaper bag sets? I don't mean diaper bags that are already packed, but that could be a nice marketing idea. I looked at a lot of diaper bags before deciding. I was under-whelmed by the lack of selection and that fact most of them had awful fabric. I was also really picky and wanted everything in Classic Pooh though too. Most diaper bags that come in the store are just a bag and a sometimes a changing pad and "dirty duds" bag.

But what about a bag that came with more than that and it all matched?

My thought is to sew diaper bags that were sophisticated and not made of out of cutesy, nursery fabric that may included:

changing pad

dirty duds bag

blanket

nursing cover

nursing pillow (Boppy) cover

burp cloth

shopping cart cover

sling

What I'm not sure is what to include. Obviously the first four are probably going to be the most popular, but some of the women that I've made matching nursing covers and u pillow covers have loved it because you can't get that normally. Also, not everyone likes shopping cart covers, especially when they have more than one kid.

Should I cut back on the items offered and sell it as a set and people can just deal with the extra? Or should I offer items a la carte? I would like to avoid doing custom bags, but I might have to start out with that to avoid wasting money.

What items would you like to see/use the most? Add some if you think I missed any! What types of fabrics would you like? I was thinking toile, brown with gender appropriate polka dots, and maybe a few solid colours. Or are there not so many control freak people like me that have to have everything matching?

I noticed today that the peach tree planted outside my parent's back porch was so loaded down with fruit that it was starting to bow and touch the ground. I immediately threw on my gloves, grabbed a garbage cannister and started picking and throwing away fruit. I got done and figured that I'd pull some of the "natural vegetation" that has started to take over (overgrow) the yard. I pulled two weeds when a swarm of ants came out at me, waving antenae and pitchforks, chanting my name. I screamed and ran back into the indoors, which is where man was meant to be.

I hate nature.

Now I'm just bored AND sick

Life hasn't improved and now the kids and I are sick.

In other news, Alana is starting to sit up by herself and scooting backwards on her tummy. I think that we're not more than a couple of months from having a crawler.

Bored, bored, bored, bored

Liam is sick so doing anything is out of the question, nevermind the fact I really shouldn't spend the money. So I've been very, very, very bored. I can't sew because the kids get in the way, neither will stay asleep long enough for me to get a nap, and Liam's version of playing lately is just to snatch things out of my hands yelling "NO". (He's been a little possessive lately, is this normal?) I need to find something to do, or I'm just going to eat everything in the fridge out of boredom and that's not good for my weight loss plan.

Calling all Mommies-need opinions

I've been toying with the idea of selling my wares, so to speak. I know that the trendy thing for bored housewives is to start an etsy business or something to sell their handicrafts, but hey, I'm a bored housewife with one or two skills-why not cash in?

Some ideas I have are to sell are:

Tomato hats-takes me about two hours and are really cheap as far as materials. Cute, especially for shower gifts.

Nursing covers aka Hooter Hiders-the trendy "must have" for new mothers. Also can make U-pillow covers. Only takes an hour and about $5 worth of materials.

Ballerina tutu/fairy skirts-isn't the market flooded with stuff like this? Still cheap and easy to make and pretty much every little girl wants one.

Princess dresses/dress up/American Girl knock offs-Probably my favourite option, since I usually do formals, and probably the most lucrative but also the biggest risk. Having to make a variety of sizes and colours, I can't guarantee that everything will sell before I have to start making new ones. Also, dresses take more time and care to make. Also could sew cloaks and little boy's trenchcoats.

There is also the question of should I try to advertise myself though a blog or etsy store, or should I rent a booth somewhere like the Quilted Bear where they will take care of advertising, stocking, and check out for you, but have a monthly rental fee and they take a commission? Or should I just forget about it because the market is terrible right now and luxury items are not a hot commodity? Or should I just get a real job [hippy]? Input please!

Took Liam to the dentist to find that they had lost the appointment I had made SIX MONTHS ago. Then nearly got killed twice on the way home, both by stupid idiots talking on their cell phones and not realizing their lane had merged with the one I was in about a block back. Now both kids are being little dinguses.
