Five years

Friday was our anniversary. We got a sitter for Alana, my brother and his wife graciously agreed to watch Liam, and went to Spark Lounge. It's a restaurant in Provo that's trying to be like the upscale lounges of larger metropolitan areas except that it's complete non-alcoholic. The food was good and the drinks were interesting. I had a kiwi martini that got a little tart by the end and a Shirley Temple that was REALLY good. Justin had a mango mojito and a lychee-tini. It was fun and I'll probably go back again, but mostly for the drinks because the food was really over priced.

I'm only a month late

Okay, it's been a month since we blessed Alana. I realized this when I was browsing other people's blogs and realized there THREE other babies blessed the same day (the month after General Conference, huh?).

Well, Liam screamed through the entire thing because his daddy wasn't holding him, I spend three days shopping, cooking, and cleaning before hand, it POURED the day before and I was panicked trying to find a contingency plan, I got cornered and bossed around by not only my father-in-law but his new wife AND his mother (the infamous grandmother). However, there were VERY tasty brownies from my sister, I got to see my cousins for the first time in five years, and enough food for everyone. Not having enough was my nightmare because I wasn't sure how many people were coming. Still, the cons outweigh the pros, so you will understand why I didn't take any pictures. I'm glad it's over.

Chunky Monkey

What me, fat?

I have a fat baby. It's been confirmed by the pediatrician. Alana at her two month check up weighs a whopping 13 lbs 9 ozs (95th percentile!). Which means she's gained 6 1/4 lbs since she was born and 7 lbs from her lowest weight. Liam was 12 lbs 13 ozs at two months by the way.

Both the doctor and nurse were laughing at her roooooolls of fat. It's okay, honey. If you're anything like your brother or me, you'll be a scrawny toddler.

Her length (22 inches) and head (39 cm) were in the 50th percentile and she looks perfect.

I'm disturbed

I was looking on amazon.com for a kevlar glove per the demi-god of our household, Alton Brown. Instead I found "Bulletproof Body Armor IIIA Vest Level 3a Bullet Proof Armour 3" (only $375!) and a GI Spec Helmet. I guess they're for when the Hottentots invade.

Why can I see Liam doing this?

The theater, the theater, what's happened to the theater?

Bonus points if you can name where the title quote came from. Excluding my family because you guys know everything.

So the local community theater is putting on Annie Get Your Gun. They needed seamstresses, and I figured I'd volunteer because I can sew and community theater never gets enough support, right? Well, apparently the director is desperate because when I called, her first question was, "Do you want to be costume director?" Ummmmm........okay. So I went in thinking I would a lowly lackey and came out in charge of the costume department.

The moral of the story? Never volunteer for anything.
