My Tenuous Hold on Reality...

Has finally snapped. Liam woke up this morning in fine form. Other than the usual graceful wake up (yup, he's my kid), he decided to try to climb the kitty gate into their bathroom, throw a tantrum because his dad wouldn't let him into the study, throw a tantrum because I told him to get off my sewing table, throw a tantrum because it's Thursday....you get the idea.

A couple of weeks ago I realized I should just embrace the insanity. I have to preface this story with saying that I'd been having crazy food aversions and NOTHING had sounded good for a while. Liam decided to start at six in the morning but obviously was not ready to wake up, so I took him back to our bed for a while. I was dreaming that I had finally found the food I'd been craving and was trying to eat it in my sleep. I woke up to find that I was SUCKING on my son's head. And I can't even remember what the food was.

I'm now officially 29 weeks from my April 2nd due date, which I think is a load of bull. I think it much more likely I'll be closer to my original due date of March 26th, making me 30 weeks. I'll go with 30 weeks.

I'm in trouble

I found this site today. I think that I might be in trouble.

Possibly because I am a Britax buying, shopping cart cover using, Wii owning, baby wearing Best Parent Ever. And we are trying to familiarize Liam with Korean and it's only a matter of time before I get my secret tummy tuck.

I do like referring to breast pumps as leche luggers.

Life with a 16 month old

Liam has changed so much lately.

He has started to eat everything in sight. I guess he's trying to break out of that 25th percentile for his weight. The good thing is that he's not picky. Liam will eat everything including, but not limited to, yogurt, chicken, taco soup, tortilla chips, cheese, bananas, honey nut cheerios, saltines, pita chips, and chocolate. Incidentally, this was all in the past two days due to Costco samplers.

Liam has also started the oh so charming habit of throwing tantrums. He will shriek like a banshee when he's frustrated or isn't getting his way. There have actually been some really big ones where he sits or kneels on the floor and kicks. I'm developing an immunity to most of them except when he's been very difficult that particular day. He started to throw one at my friend Shelly's house and I ignored him so it was over in less than a minute. She was impressed and said that it usually takes a really experienced parent to keep their cool. It's nice that she took heartlessness for experience.

On the flip side, Liam has started to belly laugh. He used to have a really cute baby laugh, but now it's a deep, full, somewhat sinister cackle. He does it ALL the time now too. I'll have to try to record it for posterity. Meaning to embarrass Liam with when he's a teenager.

Yuck and Catch Up

I'm now in the third trimester (actually have been for a week and a half). So why do I have morning sickness again?

Due to popular request, a picture of the evening dress I made:

This picture doesn't make me look that pregnant and it also proves that my brother-in-law can't take pictures. Doesn't Justin look handsome?

I had to go to the doctor's yesterday. I kept having dizzy spells and seeing dancing lights, so I called the nurse who told me to come in for a blood pressure check. So I packed up Liam, braved the snow storm, waited for a crowded sitting room for an hour because the doctor was called for an emergency c-section, only to be told that the baby is sitting on something that is cutting off my circulation and causing me to pass out. It will continue for the rest of the pregnancy and to be careful when driving. Wohoo!

Doctor Who?

The new doctor has been announced-some really unknown actor. Matt Smith who is the star of Party Animals, also a something I've never heard of. I tried to look him up on IMDB, and it's not good when the first Matt Smith to pop up worked on the special effects on Dogma. We'll see how he does! FYI, this is the right Matt Smith.

Let the panic attacks begin

So a couple weeks ago I realized that this baby is going to be maybe as early as 10 weeks after New Years. Yesterday, I realized that it was the new year. I looked it up and I have less than 90 days to my due date (keep in mind Liam was over two weeks early) and I have officially entered the last trimester.

This normally would make people excited because the end is in sight, but it's really freaking me out. The only thing I've done so far is to get another dresser and a couple of packs of newborn diapers. The crib I want is discontinued, I only have boy clothes and my goal of getting Liam completely on sippy cups has a two month deadline. Shoot.

I won't pretend that this pregnancy has gone by so much faster, because it hasn't. I've just been putting stuff off more. Gotta get my rear in gear.
