I had a doctor's appointment a couple of days ago and was planning on taking Liam with me. I did that last time, and they didn't have a problem with it-in fact the doctor sat and played with Liam when he kept dropping things overboard the stroller. However, I got a call from my visiting teacher, Sis. Stucki who had heard that I was pregnant and was having bad morning sickness. She was calling to see what she could do for me. I thought it was really sweet of her just to call, but she was pretty insistent and offered to watch Liam while I was at my appointment.
I dropped him off and was later very grateful I did because at the clinic, they stuck me in a room for a hour. When I finally got back to Sis. Stucki's to pick up Liam, she had made me dinner! I was blown away. Lately I've been having to deal with a lot of self absorbed, self centered, and selfish people. It's nice to know there are still people in the world who think about others. My faith in people has gone up a little in the past few days.

Books I've been re-reading
Due to the nausea, I've been fighting a bout of insomnia. So I've been reading a lot of the books out of my parent's collection that I haven't read for a while.
Rebecca-
Can I just say that Mrs. Danvers still takes the cake for being the coolest psycho ever? It is however a little hard to understand her motivations for the most part other than misplaced loyalty. Also when reading this book, all I can think about the movie and how Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine HATED each other.
Agatha Christie-
Poirot is much cooler than Ms. Marple.
The Oz books-
I started to collect these when I was ten. I think that I'm still missing three of them, but they're fun little reads. I love how these books are not consistent in anything. People can't die, but people die; people can't grow up, but people talk about growing up. Ah well, mostly I love how people insult each other all the time. John R Neill's illustrations are pretty cool too.
Liam is being a little stinker. He's refusing to take his naps lately and is getting into everything. There was a step latter in the kitchen that he discovered he can climb and then get up on to the counters. Yeah that was fun. He is also experimenting with this awful high pitched strangled screaming sound to get my attention. On the food front, he loves saltines and is refusing cheese, which was one of his favourite foods till now. Oh the joys of having a kid with my genes.

Our big headed runt
I took Liam to the doctor for his year checkup yesterday. He weights 19 lbs 11 oz, is 28 inches long, and has 45.9 cm head circumference. That makes his weight in the 25th percentile, height 5th, and head 50th. So his head is huge, his weight is piddling, and he's really shrimpy. Guess those Korean genes kicked in. He also sat on the floor of the office and gave the doctor one of the most hostile looks I've seen on a 12 month old.
Liam decided to reach for the thread (long life). However since his hanbok was so big, his hand was caught up his sleeve so he couldn't grasp it very well. So he knocked over the rice and nearly upset the table in his desperate attempt. Justin will eventually get the video up on photobucket (in which you can see my fat pregnant belly). I would have recorded his first cake, but he freaked out when people sang to him, grabbed some frosting and smeared it into his hair, and spat out the piece I put in his mouth. All in all, everything went well.
Last week all my shirts mysteriously decided to shrink. I'm now wearing some of my smaller maternity shirts, but I still feel swamped. Oh well.

More stuff
*Sniff* Tomorrow Liam turns one. He never was much of a baby since he was trying to roll over from day one, but I'm more than a little sad that my little guy is growing up. He is also following in the footsteps of his mommy and is getting sick in time for his birthday.
The doctor prescribed me some zofran for the nausea and it seems to be helping a little. I don't feel quite as poorly as before, and I can tell when it starts to wear off. However, the trip to Seattle seemed to do a lot. It's nice to go to climate that I'm not struggling to breathe. It only rained once in the morning but was sunny when we went to Gasworks park later that afternoon. I introduce Justin to Ivar's where we gorged ourselves on seafood and found out Liam loves fried clams and their New England clam chowder. It was a fun trip despite the brevity. I wish I was there right now....
I have to finish up the arrangements for Liam's dol tomorrow.

Jon and Kate plus 8......and a lot of tranquilizers
I occasionally watch TLC's Jon and Kate plus 8 in the background when I'm doing stuff if there is nothing else on. This show embodies most of my parenting nightmares: multiple children, lots of children, and becoming the most controlling freak mother like Kate.
So, at this point in my pregnancy, I would really just like to find a dark room and die. I have bad morning sickness. This is not the nausea all day, feel like lying down morning sickness that people usually think is "bad". This is sprint for the bathroom every two minutes and can't keep anything down, thinking of hospitalization bad morning sickness. Unfortunately, I also have to take care of Liam. He's been mostly good lately, but I feel bad when I have to close him in a room while I take off for the bathroom because he doesn't understand why he's being abandoned, albeit temporarily. Justin assures me that I was just this bad with Liam. I remember being sick...I just don't remember the marathon vomiting (TMI alert). My mom tells me that Mother Nature plays plenty of tricks on our memories; otherwise, we'd never have more than one kid.
I'm currently nine weeks, but I really should be further along. The doctor pushed back my due date (April 2nd) based on the ultrasound-I'm very dubious. Liam's EDD was pushed back two weeks and then I delivered 15 days "early". I'm surprised that I'm not fat already because I thought you were supposed to show earlier with subsequent pregnancies, particularly if they are close together. Last time I was out of my pants at 10 weeks, but this time, my jeans are still falling down (a usual problem with my pants). Maybe it's because I was 25 lbs heavier when I got pregnant with Liam and don't have the extra flab this time around. But I bought some maternity pants anyway, and I just need to get my shirts back from my sister and Erika and I might actually have enough clothes this time around!
I realize that we haven't posted any pictures of Liam on the interweb since May. It's because currently the pictures are being held hostage on the computer with a dead power supply and we can't get them uploaded. Plus the camera has been alternately dead and resurrected since June. They will eventually show up. Maybe when Liam hits college.

Stuff
Liam is getting better about toddling around. He now stands at any chance and will try to take a couple of steps before he falls over and crawls the rest of the way. He usually can walk between furniture without falling over too much. I think my "peaceful" days are over.
I finally decided to read the Stephanie Meyer series, the Twilight Saga to see what all the hoopla was about. I must say it was the most romantic........literary piece of garbage I ever read. I'm not heavily into Danielle Steele, bodice ripping good time type of books in the first place, but this seemed excessively self-indulgent. The first book I will admit had some redeeming qualities because it had a plot, but after that, the books quickly digressed into long dialogs that went something like this:
"I love you more."
"No, I love you more."
"No, I love YOU more."
The last book was probably the worst of all because it took 700 pages to get to the climax and then they talk their way out of trouble. At least in Harry Potter where the important part was not the battle, there was a satisfying fight to end the series. The series could have easily been condensed into two, maybe three books with no plot lost. I also found the main character Bella to be a grade A, first class ninny. I know that she was supposed to fragile and doll like, but it came across as just plain annoying. I was so OD'ed on romance by the time I was done, I cheered when they killed Marion on the BBC version of Robin Hood (spoilers!). Also from a prose stand point, Meyer needs to work not using more than one pronoun when there are two subject in a sentence. I also often had to count back on the number quotations to figure out who the heck was speaking. Not only does this show terrible composition, but a lack in different voices. I blame, despite the denials, the upcoming movie on this tripe for the postponement of the next Harry Potter. Grrrrr.
In other news. I'm pregnant. More to come on that later.

Not quite Eliza Doolittle
I think that I have to face one the ugly facts of motherhood: the shorter hair.
If you don't know this, or haven't been paying any attention, my hair is currently falling below my hip. I'm lucky and cursed to have hair that grows REALLY fast, so I usually find it easier to keep it long because it was costing too much to keep it trimmed. Also, every time I've gotten cut above my shoulders, it's been a disaster. However as it it, I can be sitting down and Liam reaches up from standing on the floor and pulls. Hard.
So I'm taking suggestions for my new haircut. I'm not looking for anything super short (sorry Gwyn, no pixies), or hard to manage. I have thicker, slick hair that layers okay. I still reserve the right to veto any and all suggestions, but at this point, Justin's hair razors are looking really tempting.
